We started ‘Satisfied in Christ’ on the premise that ultimate satisfaction is found only in and through a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. We’re unmarried Christians who, amongst other things, struggle against same-sex temptations. But we seek fulfilment through devotion to Christ, rather than in the pursuit of same-sex relationships. Our aim is to inspire and encourage all Christians – unmarried or married – to seek the fullness of life promised by the Lord Jesus, in the midst of whatever battles you may face.
In this world, various things and people promise us happiness and fulfilment. But they always fail to give lasting satisfaction. Satisfied in Christ proclaims Christ as the greatest treasure. He is the one for whom it’s worth giving up everything, because He gave Himself to reconcile us to a Holy God. Only in a relationship with the Lord Jesus can we experience “joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.” (1 Peter 1:8)
“We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” C.S. Lewis, The Weight of Glory
I came to faith in Christ aged 24 after walking into a church one Sunday morning ‘looking for God’. After becoming a Christian, the Holy Spirit convicted me through the Word of God to end a long-term same-sex relationship. This was my first major act of repentance. For the last 25 years, I’ve been learning how to live an unmarried, celibate life out of love for and obedience to the Lord Jesus. I don’t claim to have lived a life of absolute purity since becoming a Christian. But on each occasion that I’ve fallen short of the glory of God, his mercy and loving, fatherly discipline has led me to repentance and back onto the narrow path that leads to life.
Having served as a pastor in a London church for ten years, I was then appointed as the Director of True Freedom Trust (TFT) in 2009. TFT is a Christian ministry that provides biblical teaching and pastoral support for Christians struggling with same-sex temptations, along with their families, friends and church leaders. I’m soon to step down from this role with a view to returning to local church ministry. My dream is to lead a church where everyone can encounter the transforming grace and truth of the Lord Jesus, whatever their social background, upbringing, race, education, job, struggles, sexuality, gender identity etc. Praise God that the gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes – no exceptions, no exemptions, no exclusions.
In my free time, I usually enjoy walking, travelling, learning languages and am also a keen (and often disappointed!) supporter of Arsenal Football Club. In 2015/16, I invested much of my spare time in writing a book called ‘Satisfaction Guaranteed’, published by IVP on 19 May 2016. Click HERE to buy.
I first heard and responded to the gospel around the age of 10 in a church that was a former sweet shop. This may go some way to explaining my love of jelly babies! Now aged 25, my faith in Christ has grown through an ongoing battle against same-sex temptations, which I experienced from an early age. I did have one brief same-sex relationship, but was unable to reconcile this with my faith and am now fully committed to celibacy.
I serve as the Head of Speaking and Teaching at True Freedom Trust and speak widely on issues of same-sex temptations and related issues around the UK & Ireland, and occasionally further afield. I’m passionate about reading, preaching and teaching God’s word and am currently studying for an MA in Biblical Interpretation at London School of Theology.
In 2015/16 I helped to write the book ‘Satisfaction Guaranteed.’ I’m also an avid supporter of Manchester United.
